Welcome to Go Physio for Kids

Who might need physio?

Your child may have been diagnosed with an existing condition or you could have concerns about the way in which they are moving or developing.
Go Physio provides the specialized field of private paediatric physiotherapy and is here to help children of all ages; from birth to 18 years.
We have many years of expertise and are dedicated to making this a fun and motivating experience for the children. We also make it relaxed, welcoming and supportive for the parents.
The child is central to the decision making process. Their needs and goals are our main priority. Not only do their medical conditions differ but their understanding, methods of interacting and social and emotional needs differ also. Go Physio has a very broad and in-depth knowledge of many childhood disorders and their treatment. We also have the ability to build a rapport and communicate with children of all ages, and their parents.
Some of the conditions we work with are:

Developmental delay- All children develop at different rates, this is never more apparent than when friends all have children of the same age!   However you may have very real concerns about the way in which your child is moving or any difficulties they are experiencing  . At Go Physio a full assessment of your child will be carried out and advice on methods of positioning and play can be given to encourage your baby to progress.

Walking problems- As a child’s walking pattern develops, they can display traits or experience difficulties causing them to be ungainly or to fall often. In many children these will resolve independantly. However, if you find that your child is continuing to experience these difficulties, then an assessment can be carried out to find the cause and, if appropriate, a programme of activities can be devised to help improve their walking pattern .

Bones, muscles and joint disorders- There are many childhood orthopeadic or muskulo-skeletal problems such as fractures, Erbs palsy(nerve damage affecting arm movement), arthritis and torticollis (wry neck), to name just a few . These can cause a childs physical abilities to reduce significantly due to muscle weakness or tightness, decreased core stability, pain or decreased confidence. A simple but fun set of progressing activities can help speed recovery and function.

Neurological(Brain) disorders – In conditions such as Cerebral Palsy or Spina Bifida, on-going assessment and therapy are required to ensure that your child meets their full potential and do not encounter any further difficulties. This can effectively  be achieved through the child, parent and therapist working together- agreeing treatment goals and reaching these through a programme of handling, positioning and play carried out by both the therapist and parents within a session, and the parents at home.

Syndromes-  There are many chromosomal syndromes, the most recognized being Down's syndrome, which can affect a child in different ways. If your child has physical difficulties caused by their syndrome then there are many ways in which activities and play can encourage their development.

Following head injury-   Children who have experienced a head injury can be left with many challenges to face, often the least of these is physical. However, being able to improve physical function is very important and at Go Physio, there is a broad range of experience in this area, both in the acute setting and the community.
